Frequently asked questions

Eyelash Extensions

What are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash Extensions are a magical way to enhance your natural eyelashes with length and thickness, and are a practical, convenient and beautiful alternative to the daily use of mascara and/or eyeliner. Unlike cluster and traditional false lashes, lash extensions are the first innovation in lash lengthening that can be worn daily, without nightly removal. Extensions can only be applied to natural lashes, and are not applied to skin.

Does Eyelash Extensions look natural and realistic?

Yes! With proper training and application, extensions are place on every single natural lashes to give the look and feel completely natural and comfortable realistic looking lashes. No one will know you have entensions. They will just think you were born with luscious, long lashes!

What kind of lashes are use?

Grandeur Beaute Studio uses lash extensions made from synthetic mink from vendors like Novalash, Meraki Lashes, Borboleta. THICKNESS: .07 & .10mm for Volume, .18mm for Classic LENGTH: 7-14mmCURL: B, C, D, L The most popular curls are C and D.

Can I apply mascara or eyeliner to Eyelash Extensions?

Yes, even though mascara and eyeliner is not really required since the extensions actually give the illusion of wearing mascara it can be worn.. It must however only be water based mascara and eyeliner. DO NOT USE OIL-BASED OR WATER-PROOF MASCARA/ EYELINER. Waterproof mascara or any type of oil based mascara can dissolve the bonding agent and shorten the life of your eyelash extensions causing them to fall sooner. Care also needs to be taken in washing off the mascara. Only use a water based eye makeup remover.

Can I use Eyelash Curlers with Eyelash Extensions?

We do not recommend using mechanical eyelash curlers on your eyelash extensions as these curlers will damage the extensions and possibly your own natural lashes. The extensions do have a natural curl but if more of a curl is required we recommend using a heated eyelash curler.

Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing Eyelash Extensions?

Yes. BUT ONLY 12 HOURS AFTER your Eyelash Extensions service. The bonding agent we use is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, exercise etc. Special care is required but overall maintenance is low. We do NOT recommend however that you use heavy water, such as in the shower on your lashes for about 12 hours after the eyelash application. A light mist is fine.

How long do Eyelash Extensions last?

When properly applied, eyelash extensions can be worn throughout the year with minimal monthly maintenance. Touch-ups are recommended after the initial full set application to refill any natural lashes that have shed. Shedding occurs every 60-90 days. We lose 1-5 lashes daily. To maintain the full, thick appearance of a new set of lashes, a touch up visit is recommended every 3 weeks, though some folks can go 4-5 weeks, and others only 2 weeks. It varies by individual and how well lashes are taken care of on a daily basis.

What kind of lashes are used?

Grandeur Beaute Studio uses lash extensions made from synthetic mink from vendors like Novalash, Meraki Lashes, Borboleta. THICKNESS: .07 & .10mm for Volume, .18mm for Classic LENGTH: 7-15mmCURL: B, C, D, L

What happens during the application?

After assessing the best curl, thickness, and length for you, I will clean and prime your lashes then apply under eye gel pads to keep your lower lashes down during the procedure. Talking should be kept to a minimum simply because facial movements will affect the time it takes to apply extensions and could potentially move the eye pads. We'll listen to music and usually clients fall asleep because the procedure is relaxing and generally painless.

What's the proper way to take care of my lashes?

Cleansing your lashes every other day with Chrissanthie eyelid cleanser (or Sterilid) is highly recommended to keep lashes clean from makeup or other debris. Keep in mind if you wear lower eyeliner and/or mascara, every time you blink, that makeup is touching your extensions and building up at the base of your lash line and slowly breaking down the adhesive. Using a lash wand to comb the lashes free of tangles in the morning and evening is strongly recommended. If you're a wild sleeper, sleep on your sides or stomach, consider a sleeping eye mask to protect your lashes.DO NOT wear waterproof mascara, or any oil-based cosmetic product like makeup removers, cleansers, or moisturizers.DO NOT tint eyelashes. DO NOT pull your eyelash extensions. Pulling could damage your natural lash root.

This technique can also help those who have lost their hair from cancer treatments, injuries, or alopecia get the appearance of full, natural brows. What can I do to maintain my eyebrows tattoo for long term care?

  • Use a good sunscreen on your eyebrows if you plan to be in the sun for prolonged
  • periods of time. Sun exposure will fade your permanent cosmetics.
  • The use of Retin A/Tretinoin or any other rapid skin exfloiation products used regularly on the forehead area will cause the permanent makeup to the eyebrow area to fade prematurely.
  • The use of chemical peels and acid peels regularly on the forehead region can also cause eyebrow tattoos to fade prematurely.

How long does it take to heal?

It takes about 2 weeks for the superficial layers to heal. The deeper layers will take about 6-8 weeks to fully heal. The first 3-5 days will appear darker, but around day 4 or 5, strokes will appear much lighter and softer.

What will my healed brow look like?

No two brows are alike. There are no guarantees and results will vary from client to client depending on skin type, lifestyle, and immediate and long term after care. Your follow up perfecting session will help ensure your desired brows.

Does it hurt?

Pain tolerance varies from person to person. Two SEPARATE numbing gels are used prior and during the procedure to ensure comfort. Clients have related the procedure with eyebrow threading, plucking multiple hairs at once, or a light scratching of the skin.
